fitting

Got a club fitting today. Went to the store that Rich likes because he knows the owners. I have hit or miss luck there. More often than not they don't look up to help me even though I am swinging irons in the aisles. I may have finally capitolized on Lisa's family name. The fitting didn't cost me anything and I got an iron to try tomorrow morning at Legends.

The fitting didn't take long. First up was measuring the distance from my wrist to the floor which came out standard. Then some warm up swings followed by hitting balls with tape on the bottom of my 7i to show lie. Even though I was hitting inside into a net and couldn't really tell how I was hitting I wish I had some of those shots on the course this morning. Nothing like swinging well under pressure.

The results - standard length and standard lie. The only suggestion was that the flex may be too flexy for me. I usually buy the light flex but would hit a brick on a pink stick if it went straight and far. The only complaint I have about my irons is they don't go straight and they look a bit too hybridish. But even the Ping K15's have wide soles and look the part. I did get a Ping K15 7i to try.

The interesting thing to me is that I bought a Adams tight lies 5w a couple of weeks ago with standard flex and did well with it the few times I've hit it. I then bought a G5 hybrid standard flex yesterday and seemed to do well with it. Hence my confusion and the fitting.

Here is the irony. The set I sold Bob is the set suggested for me.
