2011 Golf Lesson #2

Bright and sunny hot nearly 90*s and a bit humid day, perfect for a 2 PM golf lesson with no shade. Still, better than being in the office. Too bad I have to go back. A woman with two little kids (Garrett's age and younger) were a couple of stations over were whacking away at balls. I am not sure how many she got to hit. The kids were well behaved and focused even in the heat.

I hit some balls before Jeff came out to his spot on the driving range. His spot gives him a good view of the parking lot, putting green, rest of the driving range, and the sidewalk up to the first hole. He sees all. My 7i warmups were great shots. Then with Jeff standing there I flubbed the next three and had to keep telling him I blamed him. :)

I switched it up to the 5i after a while with the 7i. I struggle with that even at the range so I might as well work on that. Fortunately I reproduced my usual 5i experience with it low and barely getting off the ground. By the end of the iron show I was putting them out past the orange flag which was around 140. I really really want my 7i to be my 150 club and my 5i to be my 175 club. Imagine what the rest of the clubs would be if they fell into that spacing...

The points from the iron lesson:
1) The right hand is still a bit strong so bring it over a bit more
2) club toe up
3) knees in to help get weight on the inside of each foot
4) square hips and shoulders
5) something with the chin that I don't remember now

We also spent 10-15 minutes working on putting. I am going to change my putting grip; why should I hold anything the same?

I am pleased with the work I did in the week between lessons and Jeff said I showed good progress.
