Played 9 at Legends before work. There was only one car in the parkinglot when I got there a little before 7 AM. Kind of creepy. Ground crew was spraying hole 7. He waved at me as I walked out to the first hole a little before 7 AM. Awesome day. A slight breeze and a little humid but great time of year to play.
Turned in a 37 with 3 pars and only one penalty.
I picked a spot 12"-18" ahead of my ball on the tee and used that as my target for setting me up at address. Ultimately the GIR for this round was 44% and last round was 55%. I felt more accurate but a swing of 1 hole out of 9 in GIR isn't statistically significant.
I used my GW 4X, the new 5W 2X, the 5i 1x, and the SW 2x. I think I skulled both SW shots onto the green anyway. Kind of funny.
Putting was 1.9 for the round. I'm trying to pick a target ahead of the ball to aim my putt but I just can't bring it together yet. Still, my goal is 2 putts per hole and for this year. So far I am at 2.16 putts per hole, the same score as last year.
I did find quite a number of lost balls. They more than offset the couple I lost playing with the new 5W. I think the flex is a bit stiff for me. I pushed the ball right. But I hit the club cold out of the bag without any time on the range.
Saw a group of 5 playing on hole 3 as I finished hole 7 and headed for 8. They were in 3 carts and all had jeans on. Heard a bunch of bad words from them. I feld sorry for the pair behind them...unless they were part of the fun too.
I did get to try the Wishon 5W on the course. I ordered a 5W, 3W and Hybrid from EBAY. They have stiff shafts that may prove to be too stiff for me but I will try them out a bit more.
