Hit Legends for a medium bucket of balls. Cloudy and slightly humid day. Ground was mucky near the back of the building. I think I would rather have the slightly longer drive than patronize the other driving range. I would have hit from the mats except there was a dude hitting from the grass. Jeff was giving a lesson in his usual spot.
I started off with the 9i. Not the best but better. My ego id and psyche are still bruised from the other day. I switched to the 7i after warming up. Much better but not perfect. I think the issue is in my turn. The range balls are crappy so distance was not somethign to bank on but some shots looked like 150. Switched to the 5i and hit most of the rest of the bucket. I didn't see but a few go much further than the 7i shots. There were even a few what I would call good shots, maybe in the 175 distance I dream about for a 5i. Finished out the last few balls with the PW aiming at the 3 closest flags each in turn. Need those short shots skills too. Maybe even more than anything else.
If I were to really work out I would hit the ball from bad lies instead of on top of fluffy grass.
I'm shopping EB*Y for irons, maybe Mizuno MX23s. I'm not pulling the trigger until after my lesson on Wednesday. The idea being to have a slightly harder to hit club to improve my game.
I think for my lesson I will ask about how to address the ball with offset clubs like my Cobra Rail H 5h hybrid or even the Cobra Rail F 7W. Second I will ask about hitting it off the toe. Thenk I will ask about the lefts - is it my turn. And lastly, because I would love to hear that new clubs were cure what ills me, I will ask about the length of the shafts and offsettedness.
I should check with Will to see if they are doing a driving range special this spring.
