Tried to hit the driving range at lunch today. The range was closed for mowing and ball gathering. The grass was tall and they finally had to get after the growth. We've had several days of sun and 70s-80s after a bunch of rain. I can't blame them but why did they have to close it during lunch. I talked to a guy who was at the driving range at the same time. He gave me the idea of playing 9 at Legends. Off I went.
The course and range at Legends had a few people but not crowded. I walked the 9 holes. My bag has putter, chipper, 9i, 7i, 5i and 5W. I'm thinking about leaving the chipper at home and using my 7i or putter for chipping. The bag worked well.
The round started out bad with a 9i shot that rolled nearly to the green. Hole 3 was a mess with my phone ringing. That is what I get for trying to sneak in a round. Had the same problem on hole 7. That set the tone for holes 8 and 9. I turned in a 37 with 16 putts for 9 holes.
The highlight of the day was my 5i shot on hole 6. This is usually my trouble hole, along with all other 8 holes. This time I managed to hit it clean and straight. The ball bounced onto the green short and to the left. My birdie put was a few inches short.
Another highlight was a 15ft putt to save par. The last hightlight was the near dozen golf balls I picked while killing time waiting for the two-some infront of me.
I need to remember to leave my wallett and phone in the car and find someplace to clip my keys. I also have to remember to zip tie the club tubes down so they don't pull out of my bag.
