Hit the driving range at lunch today. About a 20* drop in temp with overcast sky and a breeze. Still I was all fired up to try out my new swing after my lesson.
I bought a small bucket and started with the PW. I think I occassionally achieved the mostly proper stance and grip. A few of the PW shots went around 120 yard but many were in the 90 yard range (approximate). The really exciting part to me was that few to none of the shots curved left like they had been. Moved on to the 9i had had pretty much the same result. There were a few fat shots thrown in for good measure.
Switched it up and hit a few with the driver. One was decent and one was pretty good considering how short I cut the shaft. Tried some with teh 5W. The results with the club were really outstanding. Both on the tee and off the deck. For the last few balls I moved on to my hybrid. That is where the fun ended. I just couldn't do anything with that club. I'll have to put some more time in with it.
I think I will start hitting small buckets of balls and use the same club for most of it while I get used to my stance. I'm thinking about a followup lesson in a while. I would hate to have to wait until march.
