big boy golf

We were invited to play golf on Sunday. I should say I asked if anyone was golfing on Monday and Tim invited me and I added Nicholas. Sandy wanted to play and Ray said he was coming down to play. The 6 of us met at Lake of the Woods. It is a hilly golf course with holes going up hill and holes going down. We 6 teed of together on the first hole. Nicholas and I separated ourselves from the pack. We played the red tees as a pair. Not sure why we drove all the way out here to golf by ourselves but it was a nice day. Nicholas and I kept pace with the pair ahead of us. There was a slower trio ahead of them. We caught up to them periodically. They were nice.

Nicholas did really well turning in a 129 with very few shots not counted. He hung in there shot after shot. He used his driver, 5 iron, pitching wedge, and putter. I did get him to use the 7 iron a couple of times. It is a bit long. I am so pleased and proud of how he played, even when he was being a sand magnet. The poor kid seemed to be drawn to the sand traps. He had such a positive attitude about getting out of them.

I did ok too. I could tell when I got tired and the driver stopped working as well. We got our energy back by snacking. I did hit a nice couple of shots with the mashie. Putting continues to be a challenge.
