Though I left the driving range somewhat optimistic the smoke was not from me and my mad skills being so good that I caught fire (Garrett still firmly he insists that he is never on fire) The house behind the driving range was burning their burn pile. The smoke was normal gray and not that stinky so it was probably just wood, brush, and weeds rather than the tasty tar filled tires.
I took my LW and 4H and hit a small bucket. Three obseverations for the LW - 1) the LW is really good at peeling up the turff when taking a divot; 2) I am not sure the effect on distance moving the ball up and back in my stance has; and 2) I have no stupid clue on how to get a nice 5'-10' chip shot witht the LW. I really like the face-forward 60* LW in reg flex but maybe I need to use a different club for little chips but at what distance do I switch clubs? Probably around 30'. The last several rounds I overshot the green with the LW (Tower request persmission to do a flyby).
The 4H worked pretty well. I played some with opening and closing the clubface in an attempt to find my center. While I did get some to go straight and far and mostly straight and kind of far I could get the ball to peel off to the left or right depending on having the club face open or closed. Which is really cool except I just want to hit the ball straightish and farish.
My current club buying fantasy is to buy the PING K15 driver, 3W, & 5W and then maybe the cleveland Mashie in the 23*. That puts the 4H I just took to the driving range on the chopping block and makes the 3H I just won on EBAY useless. I wonder what the club trade in policy is? My club playing fantasy is to be able to swing the 5i and onward in my own iron set. It is practically a hybrid anyway.
